Less Than a Week…Oh My!

It’s been more than 2 1/2 years in the making, and we have less than a week to go until our film Mad City Chickens is finished (at least the first completed version). We sat tonight for only the third time ever and watched it from start to finish (the two prior viewings were weeks ago when it was still very much in an unfinished state).

It’s thrilling and a bit frightening to be this close to our completion deadline. The documentary has come a long, long way from its early inception, but there’s still some key edits to get through before the end of this next weekend.

No rest yet…not with the task master on our backs.

Mad City Chickens to Make Premiere on BIG SCREEN at Wisconsin Film Festival!

We’re thrilled to announce that our documentary Mad City Chickens has been officially accepted into its first film festival! The Wisconsin Film Festival recently contacted us to let us know the good news. We were uncertain as to whether or not they would take it since we had to submit an unfinished version for them to consider. But they did! We really wanted the premiere to be in Madison since so many of the chickens (and their owners) live there.

The post-production edit is coming along nicely–getting closer to completion by the day. (We have until the beginning of March to hand them a festival version.)

…and That’s a Wrap, Baby!

Today we completed our last shoot for Mad City Chickens! Craig Johnson came into the studio to do the final lines of his narration for the film and that’s it! We’ll plug his segments into the timeline within the next few days and all that remains is to finish the post-production edit (and we’re getting close).

La Fée Rouge receives invite from HDFest

Our short film, La Fée Rouge has been invited by HDFest to air on their website.

While HDFest usually only accepts High Definition entries into their film festival, they liked our La Fée Rouge so much that they made an exception and asked if they could include it in their curated showcase of films.

Texas Chicken Tales

Our trip to Austin turned out to be a great success. We met with Gary & India Rassner-Donovan who welcomed us into their home and shared their wonderful stories of snakes and the joys of raising backyard chickens.

Living well outside the city limits, Gary and India are blessed with a bountiful population of wild poisonous snakes whom they happily share the land with. But it does make for interesting encounters, especially when you add chickens and a coop full of eggs to the mix.

Not only did we thoroughly enjoy the shoot in Texas, but we also made some wonderful new friends too. That’s one of the real pleasures of producing films…getting to meet and work with so many great people.
