2nd Day of Shooting on "No Sleep for Ronni"

This past Friday, we filmed Veronica Narang and Colin Cameron together in the closing sequence for No Sleep for Ronni. The outdoor shoot ran from 8:30 pm until midnight, and the evening weather was perfect.

The small but mobile gorilla crew included Ivy Suryana as script supervisor, Nicholas Wootton on sound, Jill Wootton was the portable-light grip, and Robert shot camera and directed.

The closer it came to midnight, the more loose we all seemed to get. Night shoots can be such fun! Although the mosquitoes seemed unaffected by bug spray and had themselves a field day at our expense.

Production Begins on "No Sleep"

This past Wednesday, we had our first day of production on the No Sleep for Ronni movie. The "clinical" scenes were filmed downtown at the Madison Senior Center.

Veronica Narang plays Ronni, a woman with a bit of a problem.

A short rehearsal of a few lines...

The medical staff included actors Tim Towne and Colin Cameron, along with Ivy Suryana, Bahee Sathasivam, and Reonda Washington.

Robert directed, Erik Witt was on camera, DW Wanberg on boom, Bryan Fay and Colin Cameron monitored the audio. In addition to acting, Ivy Suryana had the dual role of script supervisor and clapper. And Colin's producer skills came in handy several times throughout the shoot.

World Naked Bike Ride--Madison

The World Naked Bike Ride has thousands of participants in cities like Portland and Seattle. In Madison, it's just catching on. Friend and fellow filmmaker, Nicholas Wootton (of Windmiller Media), is one of the event's supporters and so asked Robert to shoot some 2nd camera footage of yesterday's ride.

Look for Nicholas' edit to be up on the WNBR Madison site soon.

We have to say that we've never seen any event have the kind of positive effect on people as this one did. There's nothing like a bunch of naked people riding down the middle of  the street to get bystanders who are complete strangers to laugh and talk with each other.

Scouting Locations for "No Sleep" Project

Earlier today, we scouted locations for our short film No Sleep for Ronni. Veronica Narang, Colin Cameron, and Ivy Suryana joined Robert at a friend's farm outside of Mount Horeb , WI.

While there, Robert introduced Veronica to part of the "secret agent" scene.

Test footage and pics shot by Ivy Suryana with supplemental from Veronica Narang.

Ronni Looks to Out Dazzle Action Movie Kid

The special effects in Youtube's Action Movie Kid are fun and look fairly believable.

Great video posted by Action Movie Kid.

We'll see if we can't have a little fun with our new project as well. No Sleep for Ronni soon to be in production.

No Sleep for Ronni Pre-Production

Pre-production is underway on our short narrative, No Sleep for Ronni. The script came together rather quickly after some major changes to our original idea We're really liking what it's become. Our star, Veronica Narang, who plays almost every character in the film, is going to have fun with this one. And so are we.

A collage of images found online to give our costume designers an idea of what we're looking for.

The film's co-stars--Tim Towne, Colin Cameron, Ivy Suryana, and two yet-to-be-named actors--will have small but critical roles in the story.

Two Big Gigs Coming Up

Landed a couple nice video jobs for this weekend. The first is the all-day TEDx event at the Bartell Theater in Downtown Madison.

This is followed by the three-day National Summer Cello Institute workshop at the University of Wisconsin School of Music.

Photos by Colin Cameron.

Both multi-camera shoots should be interesting and challenging at the same time.
