Principle Photography Completed for 2016 NSTA Project
With a grant from the Disney Company, the National Science Teachers
Association hired Tarazod Films last year to produce a series of educational
videos on the Next Generation Science Standards. We are continuing our collaboration in 2016 with a 3rd-4th grade NGSS unit about the Red-winged Blackbird.

GoPro Added to Arsenal
Purchased a GoPro Hero4 Silver today, along with 64GB micro SD card and a spare battery with charger. We have a big gig starting this week and it will be part of the shoot.

"Real Live" Movie in Wisconsin Film Fest
Filmmaker Nicholas Wootton's documentary, Real...Live... will be screening at the 2016 Wisconsin Film Festival this coming weekend. It recounts last year's Madison installment of the World Naked Bike Ride. Nicholas participated in the ride and carried a GoPro with him. Robert shot on a second camera, driving ahead of the group and stopping at various locations along the route.

"Don Circles the Drain" to Screen in Cleveland
Don Circles the Drain was recently invited to screen at the Epp Indie Theater, located in Cleveland, Ohio. The public showing will take place on Saturday April 9th at 7:00pm. It's billed along with an independent film from the UK called The Device.

Lighting Research
Many of our video shoots would benefit from the use of cooler on-set lights rather than the traditional hot incandescents that we currently own. The alternatives are LEDs and fluorescents.
Color Temperatures:
Color Rendering Index (CRI):
CRI is rated on a scale from 1-100. The higher the number, the more accurate the light will reproduce the full color spectrum. A 90 or above is considered acceptable. If below, a greenish spike may be visible in the video.

Compared to traditional incandescent lights, both LED and fluorescents contain much higher amounts of hazardous and rare metals (aluminum, copper, gold, lead, silver, and zinc). In additional, fluorescent bulbs also contain mercury vapor. So when it comes to the end of a bulb's useful life, disposal becomes an environmental issue and special care should be taken to recycle them properly.
Another potential issue with Compact Fluorescent Lights (CFL) is dirty electricity. Just something to consider.
